Jennifer Barbour is the mother of Gabe Zubaty, a rising 8th grader. She joined the PTSA board in 2023-2024 as the Vice President of Programs because she wanted to help create a sense of community for our students, teachers, staff and parents/guardians. She believes "Middle school is a tough time for kids, so building a strong community where they feel valued and a sense of belonging is important."
In her spare time, she love volunteering with GRRAND and spending time with as many dogs as she can. She also loves to cook and travel.
She is a native of Charlottesville, Virginia. After obtaining her BA in American Politics and Comparative History from the University of Virginia, she moved to Louisville to attend UofL’s law school. She's been an attorney for 17 years, and started a new firm with 13 partners in December 2022, where she focuses on corporate litigation and fiduciary claims.
Bill Zubaty's son, Gabe, is a rising 8th grader. When the 2024-2025 Board couldn’t be formed because no one had volunteered to be the Treasurer, Bill stepped up to the plate and took on the role. When asked why he was willing to help, Bill said, “I appreciate all the teachers and staff do to make Meyzeek a great school, so it’s the least I could do.”
In his spare time, Bill loves listening to history podcasts, hiking, and traveling. Bill is a veteran of the US Army, having been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan with the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.
A native of Warsaw, Kentucky, Bill attended NKU where he obtained a BA in Political Science and History. After enlisting in the Army and being honorably discharged, he hiked the Appalachian trail from start to finish to decompress. He then moved to Louisville to attend UofL and obtained his Master’s degree in public policy. Bill is currently employed by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
Cynthia Coomes is new to Meyzeek, and her son Paul will be a 6th grader in the Fall. When asked why she wanted to join the PTSA board, she explained, “I want to get to know the Meyzeek community and be involved from day one.”
Cynthia and her family are movie buffs and love to travel.
She is a Louisville native. She obtained a BFA in Theatre Performance from the University of Evansville and an MSSW from UofL. She owns a case management agency that serves people with disabilities through Medicaid Waiver Programs.
LaQuita Wornor's son, Evan Wornor, is a rising 8th grader. When asked why she joined the PTSA, LaQuita said, “I believe that our Meyzeek community is stronger together. I want to do what I can to support the teachers, fellow parents, administration and staff, and - most of all - the students. I know the role that the PTSA can play in enhancing their educational experience.”
In her free time, LaQuita likes to find ways to creatively preserve memories, so she does a lot of modern day scrapbooking. She loves to travel and to spend quality time with her family and friends.
Laquita is a Louisville native, who grew up in the Smoketown community around Meyzeek. She attended Meyzeek, as did most of her older relatives (although they know it as Jackson Jr. High). She graduated from duPont Manual and then went to the University of Kentucky, where she obtained a BA in History and English. She has a law degree from the University of Cincinnati and uses that degree as an in-house attorney for a national healthcare organization.
